From the brutal bitterness of facing one’s own mortality to the imperative to live beyond mere survival, Jamie Hale’s NOT DYING is a tour-de-force of emotion, power, and resilience.
It tracks Jamie’s journey through writing a show about dying to choosing to live in the world, joyfully, angrily, hopefully. Part-personal, part-political, this show swings between Jamie’s experience of the world and an exhortation to change the world for disabled people now and in the future.
Work from this show was described as “writing of exquisite delicacy and linguistic precision” where Jamie’s “sensitivity to the use and abuse of language stands out as exceptional” (playstosee.com).
